Bound by Stories

Bound by Stories is a creator-first gifting experience for TikTok that celebrates how BookTok turns reading into a global cultural force — a personalized, collectible moment designed to be unlocked, shared, and kept.

I led the concept and design end to end. From a mobile-first microsite that matches each creator to their genre, to a system of collectible "Collector's Volume" boxes that carry the experience from screen to shelf. Built as a series, not a one-off, with room to scale across BookTok's many reading communities.

This project is concept work and is copywritten by HALO Branded Solutions.

World Book Day is a globally recognized moment centered on reading, storytelling, and access to books — making it a natural home for a BookTok celebration.

It becomes the narrative reason for the drop: a meaningful moment to honor the creators who carry stories forward, rather than a date stamped onto a giveaway.

Bound by Stories unfolds as a single, connected journey — from screen to shelf. A short, mobile-first experience reveals the genre a creator is drawn to right now, then carries that world all the way to the box on their doorstep.

THE REVEAL

Your story lane, revealed.

Once the quiz is complete, creators are matched with a BookTok story lane based on the kinds of stories they can't stop thinking about. The reveal transforms the experience — shifting the microsite into a distinct visual world that carries all the way through to the Collector's Volume they'll receive.

Each volume includes a personalized bookplate, giving creators the option to bind it to their name or handle.

We began with five representative BookTok lanes, each inspired by the moods, tropes, and visual language readers already associate with the genre. Distinct color, type, and illustration make every world feel personal, recognizable, and worth displaying.

The Romantasy edition blends romance and fantasy, pairing bold, expressive color with darker, tactile materials to reflect both passion and power.
